Sandblasting Glass Gives the Appearance of a White Frost Finish.

  • Flat sandblasting gives a white frost effect.

  • Deep sandblasting carves deeper into the glass and creates depth and tone.

  • Light sandblasting gives shading to the design.

All of these techniques can be used singly, or together to create a multi-layered design, tone and shading.

Sandblasting glass can be used on door panels, door surrounds, any windows, shower screens, for signage, commercial and domestic partitions, anywhere you wish to obscure glass and still let light through.

COLOURED FLASH GLASS

Flashed glass has a thin skin of red or blue glass over clear glass.

A stencil can be applied with a pattern cut out - sandblasting away the coloured layer reveals a white frost pattern. This techniques is used extensively in Victorian door surrounds and sidelights.

flashed glass is manufactured by a mouth blown technique and is still being made in France and Germany.  This mouth blown glass can vary in its depth of colour across the sheet and may have some small bubbles throughout and is generally quite transparent.

High Resolution Laminated Inserts

High Resolution Laminated Glass Inserts is an exciting new alternative to the red and blue Flashed glass that has unlimited design potential and is a thermally laminated safety glass. Brian Pioneered this method of Victorian Flash reproduction as he was trying to find a way around the limiting shock sheet sizes of Flashed glass from France, that only come in sizes 950x 800mm. The Colour laminated Glass method allows for greater lengths of glass at 1800mm+,  which are popular in many sidelight door surrounds in federation homes around Australia.

Patterns can be photographically reproduced or computer generated on acetate that is thermally laminated in between two pieces of glass, therefore allowing for a wide range of designs and sizes. the film is also available in a wide range of overall colours. This film is transparent or can be backed with a white frost to make it more obscure yet still allowing light to filter through.

The main distinguishing difference between the LOOK of High-Resolution Film Laminate Glass and the traditional Red Flashed Glass - is that the design area in the Laminate is CLEAR TRANSPARENT not frost obscure like the Red Flash glass.

Because the design area in High-Resolution Laminate Glass is naturally clear/transparent, for an additional fee we can sandblast the design to make it look frosted. This treatment make the finished glass look closer to the traditional Red Flashed French Antique glass.

Mondrian Style Leadlight Entrance

The Clients in this 70’s brick house wanted a colourful statement piece for the entrance of their home. Working with the clients love of the artist Piet Mondrian we constructed a clean geometric design with a bright but considered pallette. To create depth and interest we selected a range of handmade, obscure and lightly textured glass that, in the evening, throw fantastic coloured light on the walls.

Reclaimed & Up-Cycled Glass Doors

Using existing vintage glass from this 60’s house along with our collection of salvaged clear textures we created these stylish partition doors. It is so rewarding utilising salvaged glass, as it has history and a lot of the vintage figure rolled glass is no longer in production.

Art Nouveau Leadlights

Custom bespoke Stained Glass Leadlights made for a family home in the Dandenong Ranges.

The Primrose, Gladioli and Lilly of the Valley were chosen by the client to signify the birth flowers of each of her daughters. We also decided to include the monogram of each daughter etched discreetly into the glass panels around the specific flowers.

We used a range of beautiful high quality handmade glass for this window including flashed glass, swirly and streaky glass and textured figure-rolled glass.

Scarlett painted with traditional kiln fired stained glass paints to add details to the flowers and leaves.

These are very special leadlights that have personal significance for the client - we hope they are treasured for generations.

The client employed Aurora Glass to create a second complementary set of Art Nouveau style Leadlights for a door surround inside the house.

The design for this set of leadlights was pared back and simplified version of the Front Entrance leadlights.
